Quality in tourism in Malaga

Sixty-five businesses in Malaga received the ‘Q’ award for tourism quality. The Spanish Institute Tourism Quality distributes these awards to tourism facilities that provide high quality, safety and professionalism in their service to the public. ICTE is a group that certifies quality in the tourism business sector, and it is formed by the most renowned national tourism associations, the State Office of Tourism, the autonomous communities and the Spanish Federation of Towns and Provinces.

According to data transferred the Andalusian Office of Tourism and Commerce, as a response to a question raised by the Andalusian Parliament members from Malaga, José Antonio Castro and Dolores Quintana, there are 65 businesses in Malaga that have earned the ‘Q’. Twenty-one of them are located in the capital city. Second in the ranking are Marbella and Nerja, having seven each, Fuengirola has five and Velez-Malaga has four. Mijas, Ronda and Torremolinos have three each; Antequera and Benalmadena have two each. According to data given by the Consejeria to the Parliament members, there are four destinations with this qualification: Axarquia region, western Costa del Sol, Malaga (capital city) and Serrania de Ronda. Moreover, a large number of businesses have earned this quality award.
