Nieves Atencia who is the councilor for beaches in Nerja said that the beaches of La Torrencia, Burriana and El Chucho have received the Q for Quality flags already. The badge is awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) and it is given to beaches and nautical sport facilities that are certified to publicly recognize the efforts in obtaining this award. The Q for Quality flag recognizes the improvement of services provided for citizens in beaches and generates added value to the tourism offer in Spain. It transfers confidence in Nerja’s beaches.
Nieves Atencia said that they will continue working to maintain and enhance the quality levels of the area beaches and to this effect she indicated that there have already been a number of improvements and that during the last few days, the monitoring service is also operational in the beaches.
Nerja and Marbella are the two towns in the province that have received the most Q for Quality awards, second only to Malaga City, with a total of seven. Besides the three towns’ beaches, the Municipal Tourism Office, the Parador and the Toboso and Marina Turquesa apartment complexes have received the award.
