The largest travel site in the world, TripAdvisor, recently recognized Spain’s top ten Paradores that, according to their users, are the best in our country and these include the parador of Nerja.
It is “Traveller’s Choice Paradores de Turismo” ranking, which asseses the cultural heritage of the 94 facilities that currently hold the seal “Parador” in Spain. This ranking has been developed by taking world’s travelers experiences into account.
They have chosen Parador Hostal dos Reis Católicos (Santiago de Compostela) as number one because of descriptions such as “Hallways full of all sorts of details, cloisters and courtyards that transfer dreams of yesteryear”, among other comments.
Next in the ranking are the Paradores of Santo Estevo and Alcalá de Henares. The Galician hotel is described by guests as “awesome. The location is overwhelming, the setting is wonderful and the transfer of a tenth century dwelling to the present day has been made with care and charm”. The Parador in Madrid has “impeccable comfort, is a modern and simple ‘parador’ at the same time and with quality in every way, very excellent”, according to the travel website’s users.
The rest of the ranking is as follows: parador of Oropesa, again in the ranking this year because of “its inner courtyard, which makes you feel as if you have been transfered to another era”, and Aiguablava (Gerona), which is described by a guest as “the location on a rocky cliff, in front of Costa Brava is worth visiting. Just sitting in the bar’s terrace looking at the seagulls and enjoying the sea, with the waves crashing against the rocks is outstanding.”
Sixth in the ranking is the parador at Cangas de Onis, “located in a former monastery, that retains all its monastic charm. The setting is spectacular and the tranquility that transpires made our stay perfect”. Following are Cardona, Plasencia and Cáceres. Finally, proudly sitting in tenth place is our wonderful Parador of Nerja, which is “an ideal place for a relaxing holiday” according to travelers. Set up above the main beach, the Parador of Nerja is the perfect place to transfer your holiday dreams to holiday reality.
The award ceremony took place in the Hostal Dos Reis Católicos, in Santiago de Compostela, the first place winner. Present at the ceremony were the president of Tourism Paradores, Angeles Alarcó and the spokesperson for TripAdvisor in Spain, Blanca Zayas. During the award ceremony, Alarcó said she was “particularly proud of the fact that such an important entity in the tourism world recognizes the work and dedication of Paradores’ staff. To get the recognition and respect of guests is, no doubt, one of our main goals.”
