Finally it looks like Burriana Beach will be getting a new underground parking. Today, April 23rd 2013 an agreement was signed by the mayor of Nerja, along with the councilor for Infrastructure and the chosen contractor company. This draws an end to the bidding procedures and the all clear has now been given to start the actual work of development for the new car park. The price for the contract has been stated as just over 2 million euros and the final car park will have over 200 spaces and will take approximately eighteen months in order to build it from start to finish. The funding for this new car park will be provided by the FOMIT.
This is good news for the main beach of Nerja, as parking has become almost unbearable in the summer months and most people tend to either walk up and down or get a taxi. Many visitors have said that they have spent literally hours trying to find a parking space near enough to the beach. Although it is still very difficult to park in and around Nerja, the town hall does seem to be making headway for the future. The Balcon de Europa car park has the ability to park 735 cars and the car park near to the Rio Seco (Verano Azul) has over 270 spaces.
