The Council of Málaga has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Interior to fix, repair and maintain the Guardia Civil barracks in the province, including Nerja.
The first installment of this agreement has just been approved, with a budget of 250.000 euros, though the total amount allocated for this project is to be 500.000 euros, split between two years and financed in equal parts by both the Guardia Civil and the Government Board.
In Nerja’s barracks, there will be repair work on one of the buildings’ roofs, the parking lot and the storage buildings. Improvements will also be carried out in Ronda, Competa, Pizarra, Mijas-Fuengirola, Benaojén, Málaga, Rincón de la Victoria, Antequera, Cártama, Teba, and Colmenar.
Francisco Salado, spokesman for the provincial government administration said “this initiative is a token of recognition of the essential work carried out by the Guardia Civil, especially in rural areas in the province. It is right that we strive to improve their living and working conditions, from which we all benefit.” Many will see a transfer in conditions that will make it much better for workers to be there.
