El Chucho, Burriana and La Torrecilla all now share this award given by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism
The City Council of Nerja received the ‘Q’ for Tourism Quality flags that will fly once more on the beaches of Burriana and La Torrecilla and for the first time at El Chucho, as reported by Nieves Atencia, City Councilor for the Beaches. All beaches acknowledged meet UNE standard requirements of their industry associated with the ‘Q’ tourism quality brand, which in the case of beaches, refers to the facilities as well as their cleanliness, safety, rescue or information.
This year there are 174 certified beaches of 93 local authorities and public administration services in 10 autonomous regions, as well as 15 marinas which also obtained the distinction. The “Q” for Tourism Quality Flags are a tool that helps improve the services provided to the tourists who visit Spanish beaches and generate added value for the offer in Spain. It forms part of the Comprehensive System for Spanish Tourism Quality, a project that involves cooperation and participation from all three tiers of government – State, regional and local – as well as the private sector.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism and the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality, is aimed at raising the profile of the Spanish tourism product through a system of recognized quality at both national and international levels, as well as in a self-regulated manner in order to involve all sub-sectors of the Spanish tourism industry. Its members are the most important tourism business organizations in the country, and it is also supported by the State Secretariat of Tourism, the regional governments and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
