For the first time during the month of August, the price of the fuels most used in Spain have gone up. Thus unleaded petrol has gone up 0.28% and diesel up 0.15%. This increase makes filling the car tank even more expensive in the province of Málaga, since it was already one of the most expensive places in Spain, especially in the Axarquía area.
Nerja is one of the most expensive refueling stops because, while the national average per liter of 95 octane gas is 1.41 in the Nerja area prices range between 1.43 and 1.44 euros per liter. This also applies to diesel fuel, the average national price being 1.32 euros per liter, in Nerja the price ranges between 1.35 and 1.36 euros per liter.
On another note, authorities in Ibiza have distributed 50.000 leaflets to inform tourists about the disadvantages of using “illegal pirate taxis” for airport tranfers as part of an awareness campaign against this illegal mode of transportation.
The budged allocated for this is of 4.000 euros. The content is more direct, more understandable and less informative, “as agreed with the taxi industry group”, added the Consell in a statement released yesterday. The message chosen to illustrate two of the three flyers published by the islands’ local government is “Stop Illegal Transport” written over the stop road sign and covering a man’s or woman’s face.
In the third type of flyer for this new campaign it is recommended to take a legal taxi transfer and highlights the risks involved for customers when they choose the illegal cabs. “Illegal taxi drivers have no liability insurance, they don’t offer a ticket, they have no meters (since they charge a fixed price per seat). They don’t have security features, since there are no safety controls for their vehicles and they don’t have the experience a legal taxi driver has”, the leaflet points out.
Moreover, the flyers show the signs that identify a legal Ibiza taxi: they are white, they have a side band with the town’s crest and they have a green light. These 50.000 leaflets will be distributed among the tourist offices and in shops and markets in the island. Those wishing to provide this information in their establishments may request copies of the flyers in the Mobility Department of the Consell.
